Washington, D.C.- The Senate unanimously passed Senate Resolution 150, “A resolution expressing the sense of the Senate that it is the policy of the United States to commemorate the Armenian Genocide through official recognition and remembrance”. The resolution recognizes the genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire against Middle Eastern Christian communities, including Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Syriacs, Arameans, Maronites, and other Christians.

IDC President Toufic Baaklini commended the Senate for holding the vote, saying, “the Senate did the right thing naming the Ottoman genocide against Christians for what it was. For too long Erdogan’s thug tactics of intimidation and denial had won out. Today, the truth has won.”
