IDC Chapter Activities

Recently, IDC Chapter Leaders began meeting with the offices of their Congressmen to ask for their support of the Security and Stability of LebanonRefugee Resettlement for Victims of Genocide and U.S. Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.

On June 2nd Oklahoma City Chapter Chair Betsy Buck, Co-Chair Virginia Parrish and Officer Sharon Anderson met with Congressman Steve Russell, who assured them of his support to IDC’s cause: “You have an advocate right here with you.” “I’m behind you 100%.”

On May 31, IDC South Carolina Chapter Chair Richard Koethe and Vice Chair Val Sommers met with Andrew Mims, District Director for Congressman Tom Rice.

On May 31, IDC Washington, D.C. Area Chapter Chair Nada Nassar and Co-Chair Lama Najjar were joined by IDC Director of Government Relations Kristina Olney and National Outreach Associate Steven Howard and for a meeting with Molly Claire Cole, the Legislative Assistant for Foreign Affairs with the Office of Congressman Gerald E. Connolly.

In-District Chapter Meetings with Representatives and Senators will take place throughout the summer and will be followed up on with meetings in Washington, D.C. for IDC’s Annual Convention in October.

IDC will be hosting town halls in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and California throughout the month of June.

IDC Government Relations

IDC hosted a briefing on “Safe Zones in Syria and Stability in the Middle East” for hill staffers in Congress. The three expert panelists included Founder and Executive Director of The Philos Project Robert Nicholson, Visiting Fellow at The Washington Institute Fabrice Balanche, and Senior Naval Analyst with the Middle East Security Project of the Institute for the Study of War Chris Harmer. IDC Vice President and Senior Policy Adviser moderated the discussion.
